Favourite Badminton coaches believe that in addition to the “on-court” training, all players who would like to significantly improve in badminton, are expected to commit to hard work on their physical training. In order to excel in badminton athletes need to develop their endurance and upper body strength.
Below are the recommendations from a good friend of Favourite Badminton Club and a marathon runner, Michael Li:
Most training plans are targeting at the runners with 1-2 years running history and an average of 8-10 miles weekly mileage. If over-trained, they may not have enough energy left for badminton training and other activities. So I checked and compared a few plans against my running experience, then came up with these 2 plans.
This one is easy because it’s mixing walk and run to finish half marathon, easy to follow and to adjust the schedule.
This one requires at least 8-10 miles weekly mileage ( 16k ). Don’t need to strictly stick to the plan day by day, you can switch days to accommodate the schedule. Just make sure to cover the weekly mileage.
