– Registration – 9.00am.
– Games begin – 9.30am.
— Boys: Elimination
— Girls: Double Elimination
You will be getting points based on your performance in:
— Singles: Winner gets 20 points. Second place – 19 points, third – 18…. and so forth;
— Doubles: We will be assigning partners for doubles in order to decide on:
—– how well you perform as a team member;
—– how fast you can adjust to a new partner;
—– how fast you assess yours and your partner’s performance as well as opponents’ performance.
For every win in doubles you will be getting one point.
— Mixed: Even thought it is a part of the OWG, due to the time constraint we have decided not to base our selection on this event. If time permits, we would still like to see how selected team members are performing in mixed – to have a rough idea about everybody’s strengths and weaknesses in this event.
At the end of the day we will add all points for all events played for all players and those, who will have the maximum number of points, will get the privilege of representing the Georgian Bay District Badminton Association in the Ontario Winter Games 2014.
If there will be a tiebreaker or a very close performance in the case of the 4th and 5th prospective members of the team, as well as the substitutes for the team, an independent member of the Georgian Bay District will have a final say in the selection process. This year this decision will be made by Ron Banerjee – a member of Barrie Adult Badminton Club.
At the end of the selection process the Head Coach and a General Manager will be talking with ALL team members about the team development plan. We are hoping that you will be trying your best to participate in tournaments prior to the OWG as a team. Meaning, that if you are planning to go to any tournaments, try to coordinate this with your team members, as well as the coach and GM. We would like you to try to do this because we believe that you will only be the best team if you will all become friends and have fun playing with each other. However, we realize that the district is big and you might not necessarily be able to meet very often prior to the OWG. As you already know, you will have one mandatory practice in Bracebridge on February 15th. This practice is scheduled in Bracebridge so that you could all meet for the last time before the games at the location where they will be held. Again, because of the size of the district, we might schedule other practices prior to that day. It will also depend on everybody’s availability, plans regarding tournaments in a season 2013-2014 and other factors. All will be discussed with the selected team members and substitutes at the end of the tryouts.
Good Luck Everyone and Let’s Have a Lot of FUN!.:)
